Massanutten Regional Governor's SchoolMRGS offers a two-year 1/2 day program for highly gifted and academically motivated Juniors and Seniors. Participants take their mathematics, science, and English courses at MRGS and then return to their home school to take their other required courses and electives, as well as to participate in extra-curricular activities.
Rockingham county students apply during their Sophomore year to be admitted during their Junior/Senior year. Information session at TA on October 10 at (time TBD) in Room 211. Prospective student field trip to MRGS on November 8 from 8:15-11:30. MRGS applications due to the Challenge teacher Dec. 19 by the end of the school day. |
Regional Governor's Schools |
The Virginia Department of Education, in conjunction with localities, sponsors regional Academic-Year Governor's Schools that serve gifted high school students during the academic year. Currently, 19 Academic-Year Governor's Schools provide students with acceleration and exploration in areas ranging from the arts, to government and international studies, and to mathematics, science, and technology.
